Teaching Philosophy

I find that great educators are also the best students. As a teacher, I believe that having the constant need to learn is one of the greatest characteristics to have. I hope to exude that in my teaching and pass it on to my students. I want to provide them with the all the materials to further their education once they leave the studio. It is with great importance to be passionate, not only about dance, but with everything we do in our day-to-day lives. I want my students to take what they discover in the studio, and apply it to the world we live in.

What I hope my students will walk away with in each class are:

  • They will learn grace from each Ballet class

  • Have confidence every time they have Jazz

  • Push their creativity and innovation in Modern

  • Embrace their self-expression in Hip-Hop

  • Embody their musicality in Tap class

Throughout all genres of dance, I hope my dancers take away dedication, patience, courage, and self-love.

I believe there is so much more that goes under the title “Teacher.” I aspire to be a mentor, cheerleader, coach, and friend to my students. I want my students to come into my class knowing it is their safe space to let go, create, and learn. When my dancers come to class, they will be able to leave their troubles at the door. They will enter their second home not worrying about school, people, or life outside of dance. I will embody this nature by fostering a welcoming, nurturing and fun environment, not only with the interior of the studio, but with my attitude and persona as well. That being said, I also believe in looking out for the greater good of my dancers, meaning that I will take the necessary precautions to help my dancers when comes a time of need.

It is through my own training and past mentors who’ve taught me to have that "you only can take out what you put in" mentality. This value is something I plan to pass on to my dancers. I believe in giving them the chance to work on their own craft and artistry. While being the facilitator, and not a dictator, I will create the best space for growth for my students.
